Parliamentary Visit to Jordan

The Coalition for Global Prosperity were pleased to be joined by Baroness Nosheena Mobarik, Heather Wheeler MP and Andrew Gwynne MP for our latest overseas visit to Jordan in partnership with Save the Children, The British Council and Talent Beyond Boundaries.

The delegation first visited the Za’atarai refugee camp - around 15 miles from the Syrian border - which is home to 80,000 Syrian refugees. At its peak during the crisis, the camp was housed over 100,000 refugees. The UK is a key partner of the camp with UK backed projects providing crucial services and facilities to help improve sanitation and water supply as well as education and healthcare.

Thanks to the British Council we spoke with members of their Community Language Support Project which advocates the importance of languages for communities that have been displaced or affected by conflict, hostility or misunderstanding.

The delegation then met with Talent Beyond Boundaries to discuss the incredible work they do incredible work to help refugees and other displaced people to move internationally for work, leveraging their own professional skills to secure their futures.

Our delegation met with the UK Ambassador to Jordan to discuss the UK’s role in the region, key challenges facing Jordan and the wider region.

Thanks to our partners for this incredible visit to see some of the great work carried out by UK backed organisations and projects across Jordan.
