CGP Hosts the Global Britain Summit

The Coalition for Global Prosperity was pleased to host the first Global Britain Summit on 8th February 2023 at RSA House, Westminster. The full day conference explored Britain’s role on the world stage and the importance of strong British international leadership, including through its development funding, at a time of great geopolitical uncertainty.

The audience heard from a varied line up of speakers and panellists, covering topics like the war in Ukraine, the impact of climate change on international security, reduced barriers to trade as a tool to lift people out of poverty, and women and girls’ special ability to accelerate global development.

The keynote speakers at the Summit were the Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, Minister of State for Development and Africa; General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith KCB, CBE, former Chief of the General Staff (2018-2022); Kira Rudik MP, Vice President of the ALDE Party, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and leader of the political party Golos; and Kurt Volker, former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations and former U.S. Ambassador to NATO (2008-2009).

With contributions from political, military, and development leaders, the day’s discussions underscored how Britain can continue to be a leading force for good in the world.
