The Coalition at Labour Party Conference 2018

The Coalition for Global Prosperity kicked off conference season in Liverpool for Labour Party Conference.

Alongside Bond and the Labour Campaign for International Development (LCID), the Coalition co-hosted the annual international development rally to a packed room. The reception, titled  ‘A Global Britain: The Impact of Brexit on the World’s Poor’, hosted speeches from Dan Carden MP, Shadow International Development Minister, Stephen Twigg MP, Chair of the International Development Committee, Stephen Doughty MP, Chief Executive of the Coalition for Global Prosperity Theo Clarke and others.

Stephen Doughty MP and Stephen Twigg MP started the proceedings by emphasising the need to keep the world’s poor in mind during and following Brexit proceedings. The latter warned against the UK becoming internalised and protectionist.

Dan Carden MP, Shadow International Development Minister, then brought the evening to a close, reiterating the need to share our development progress with the public and engage their support.

The Coalition also hosted a private roundtable for senior parliamentarians at Labour Conference to discuss how international development is currently viewed within the party and how to make it a party priority.
