UNICEF World Children’s Day Dinner

In commemoration of World Children’s Day (20th November), we were delighted to partner with The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) for a private roundtable discussion. The focus of this discussion was the reprioritisation of children within international development. MPs from across the House had an exclusive insight into UNICEF UK’s brand new report Leave No Child Behind - Analysing the Cuts to UK Child-Focused Aid. Dr Philip Goodwin, UNICEF UK’s Chief Executive Officer, and Joanna Rea, UNICEF UK’s Director of Advocacy, presented the latest findings of the report.

With Paulette Hamilton MP, member of the Health and Social Care Committee, and Alice Macdonald MP, member of the International Development Committee in attendance as our Guests of Honour, the report explores recommendations for parliamentarians and the wider sector on how to ensure children both at home and abroad are given equitable access to nutrition, education and healthcare.

Attendees discussed the UK’s leadership on the world stage and how ensuring child-focused programmes are at the heart of British foreign policy.
