CGP and British International Investment Host Parliamentary Roundtable on Development Finance and Climate Action

Against the backdrop of COP29 and the G20 Summit, CGP were delighted to partner with British International Investment (BII) to host a private roundtable titled "Public Finance as a Multiplier – Boosting International Development and Fighting Climate Change."

The discussion underscored the role of public finance in leveraging private capital to amplify the impact of economic returns for the UK via investment in the development of emerging economies. Parliamentarians discussed how BII’s finance model enables poverty alleviation through climate finance and a gendered-lens approach to drive long-term growth and sustainable development.

The roundtable brought together key stakeholders, including parliamentarians Noah Law MP, Gareth Davies MP, Bradley Thomas MP, and The Lord Oates. Also in attendance were representatives from the International Development Committee (IDC) Secretariat and BII leadership, including Chief Investment Officer Liz Lloyd CBE and Managing Director and Head of Africa Chris Chijiutomi.
