Future Leaders Programme

Application Form

CGP’s Future Leaders programme is the foreign policy network for the next generation of politicians.

This exclusive cross-party programme is aimed at prospective parliamentary candidates from the Conservative and Labour parties who have an interest in foreign affairs and who would like to develop their understanding of the UK’s role internationally. Consisting of a series of events and receptions, networking opportunities, residential policy retreats, an overseas visit and the opportunity to write for an essay collection, the programme is designed to set you up with the knowledge, connections and confidence to speak with authority on foreign policy ahead of your parliamentary career.

You will hear from senior political figures on development, defence and diplomacy to discuss security, geopolitics and the changing world order, humanitarian interventions, climate change, migration, the role of international institutions and more, and share experiences with your fellow candidates.

The 2025 programme will begin with a welcome reception in March and will run until the Autumn. The first residential policy retreat will be held on the 5th-6th June. We understand that you will all have busy schedules and may also be juggling other responsibilities outside of work, so we will make every effort to be receptive to that and also to be as inclusive as possible. However, we do ask that if you are successful in your application for this programme that you commit to dedicate the time to attend all events and conferences over the course of the programme (exceptional circumstances aside).

The Future Leaders programme is proudly funded by CGP’s donor organisations, and therefore participation comes at no cost to the candidates, we only ask that you make your own journey to the events.

More information about the first cohort in 2023 can be found here.

Deadline: 5pm on Monday 3rd February
