International Women’s Day - Power & Progress: How Women Are Redefining Global Development

This International Women’s Day, join us for a thought-provoking discussion on the role of women-centred leadership in the Global South and how the UK can drive meaningful change.

We’re thrilled to welcome an outstanding panel of speakers:
The Rt Hon Wendy Morton MP – Shadow Minister at the FCDO
Alice Macdonald MP – Labour & Co-operative MP for Norwich North
Louise James – Managing Director & Global Co-Lead, Accenture Development Partnerships
Resham Kotecha – Head of Policy, Open Data Institute
Rachel Lindley – Chief Programme Officer & UK Co-CEO, Five Talents

Many women within the Global South strive to break down barriers within their communities to fulfill their goals of becoming landowners,  business leaders and obtaining their right to a comprehensive education. With the training and education provided through Savings Groups model established by Five Talents UK, a model which collaborates with local communities to ensure women are able to foster their own economic growth, women across Africa have been able to support themselves financially with 72% of the participants that have engaged reporting that they feel empowered through this model of financial growth and understanding.

This panel will provide a timely opportunity for prominent political and business leaders to explore how the UK can promote sustainable, female leadership in the Global South as a key development priority.
