Carolyn Esser

Carolyn is Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Darktrace, a global leader in cyber security artificial intelligence, where she is responsible for managing reputation and external stakeholder relations. Prior to joining Darktrace in June 2022, Carolyn was Deputy Director Communications, Europe, Middle East and East Asia at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she was responsible for designing and executing the communications strategy in these regions to raise awareness of the foundation and the initiatives that it supports as well as working with a broader community of external stakeholders to build support for international development. Carolyn’s previous experience includes leading Global Communications for Logica, the FTSE 250 IT and business services company and as a consultant at Brunswick, the leading strategic communications firm. Carolyn has a BA Hons. Journalism and BA Value and Policy Studies from Stellenbosch University in South Africa and is also a Trustee of the Orchid Project, the UK NGO which is campaigning for the end of female genital cutting.
